THE TECHNOLOGY

Wayside sensors at the cutting edge of technology, automatically feeding into the cloud.

THE RAILWATCH MONITORING SYSTEM

Our wayside monitoring system has a modular structure and may be assembled according to requirements and adapted to the individual conditions of the selected locations. Highly sensitive sensors and cameras automatically collect information about the technical condition of the goods wagons as freight trains pass through. The measurement results are compiled in the cloud via a server, processed by the RAILWATCH software and made available to the customers via an internet portal. The RAILWATCH software determines wear trends and optimal maintenance and repair planning based on many successive measurements, and the measurement history is compiled in a virtual wagon file.

THE BANDWIDTH OF OUR DATA

WAGON IDENTIFICATION

Our wagon identification not only provides the UIC number, but also all information on wagon class, wagon type, number of axles, direction of travel and important Keeper information.

WHEEL PROFILES

We measure flange thickness and height, flank dimension, back-to-back distance, tread hollowing and equivalent conicity. These values may be used to determine the optimum maintenance time.

BRAKE BLOCKS

We provide information on brake block thickness, cracks and chipping. In addition, you will receive recommendations for action, e.g. if one-sided wear or wedge-shaped brake blocks are detected.

WHEEL FLATS

Depending on the respective location, our wheel flat detection may be performed acoustically, or force based. Both methods detect tread defects on the wagons and issue warnings.

WEIGHTS AND AXLE LOADS

We weigh in motion via an automatic measurement of the wheel contact force of the vehicles. This allows us to determine the axle loads, asymmetrical loading, overloading, vehicle weight and train weight.

DAMAGE PROFILE

You receive complete side views of the wagons as high-resolution image data. We recognise: graffiti, damage, hazardous goods no., and in intermodal transport the truck trailer no. and container no.

PULSAR: THE MOBILE PRODUCT

A 4 square meter plot next to the line, a power supply, a base plate and a forklift truck: this is practically all that is required to set up the Pulsar within one working day and integrate the data into Orbit. Numerous data sets for wagon identity, side views, brake blocks and wheel flats etc. are immediately available.

SPECTRUM: THE FULL-SERVICE SYSTEM

Preferably deployed at entrances to large infrastructures, almost all information about the condition of a goods wagon may be collected during a single measurement. In addition to the Pulsar data, various data sets on wheelset condition and axle loads are collected and made available, right down to axle level.

OUR SERVICE

RAILWATCH sets up the measuring stations independently – from planning to final commissioning. And, of course, we also look after the continuous operation including all necessary maintenance. As a property owner or infrastructure operator, you have virtually no work to do. We only depend on your help in the analysis phase.

  • WE TAKE OVER
Installation, operation and maintenance of the measuring stations.
  • WE ENSURE
Full functionality and the availability of the data.
  • WE PROVIDE
    The necessary hardware and software.
  • WE GUARANTEE
A fast implementation of the entire project.
